This is for you, Bart!

This blog, and the adventure it describes, are dedicated to my friend, co-worker and fellow adventure lover, Bart.
Bart would prefer to be riding his Moto Guzzi down a scenic road,
but unfortunately he is limited by health issues.

My hat (helmet) is off to you, my friend, and I hope you will get some enjoyment from
reading about my little adventure until you are well enough to get back to planning your own.

Cheers,
Rick.

Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.

Oregon Coast

I received a thorough free "bike wash" today, courtesy of the Pacific North-Wet!
But it didn't last long - most of the day was cloudy and misty.
Hopefully the rains will hold off for tonight.

I got to see some of the Oregon coast today, but not in its best light. The photos may appear a bit gloomy, but that's what today's weather was like. Maybe I can make up for it on down the California coast.

I was hoping for a chance on this trip to find a campsite around the redwoods, and I found one in Crescent City, CA.
None of the real giants are in the photo, but check out the size of the stump on the right.

I am next to the Jedediah Smith State Park. If the weather is OK in the morning, I'll ride the little road that winds among the really big trees.

For those of you who enjoy golf, you may have heard of this place. It's open to the public, so you can play here.  Just bring a big bag full of money.

  1. Fantastic adventure !!! If you're out of the forest tonight, I hope you have a crystal clear sky to catch the peak of the Aquarid meteor shower - you should have an excellent seat for the show. Looks like you'll pass through McKinleyville today =:-O

    1. Too much rain for skygazing.
LOL - you beat me to it - I saw McKinleyville on the map a couple of days ago.
I'll have to stop for a photo with the sign.

  2. Also meant to tell you - this trip is much easier on those of us back home than your Alaska trip - at least you're not a whole days ride from civilization on this trip. Thank you :-) I like being able to see you get a good breakfast and dinner on a more regular basis!!

    1. :-) The most remote place I'll be seeing is Rachel, NV (Area 51).
I was checking the map for routes back to Utah for Zion & Bryce, and guess what?
I may be passing through Rachel again!
      =:-o
I hope I don't get abducted by aliens again.
Oh - did I forget to post that story?

    2. If you still remember you were abducted, you got snatched by rookies - veteran aliens wipe your memory ;-)
